Not only is a compact, flat tummy the vital symbol of sex appeal, experts have found that losing abdominal fat is one of the most important steps you can take to stay well for life.
Generally people appreciate that extra fat is damaging, but the key is where the fat is scattered. People with apple-shaped bodies (fattest in the stomach) have a greater risk of heart disease and diabetes than those with pear shapes (fattest in the hips, buttocks, and thighs).
There are two major types of fat in the tummy area. Visceral (pronounced viss-er-al) fat is stored deep within your body. It surrounds and protects your inner organs. Subcutaneous (pronounced sub-cue-tain-ee-us) fat, on the alternative hand, is stored just under your skin. It’s what wobbles when you hop up and down.
What’s the best way to lose stomach fat?
It won’t shock you to study that the best way to lose abdominal fat is to consume right and keep fit regularly. And there’s a growing body of research to show that the greatest way to burn off the fat from your belly is with a combination of weight training and aerobic working out.
And the outcome?
Those who lifted weights, did more concentrated cardio, and consumed more protein dropped more fat generally (-20.6%) than the ordinary group (-10.1%). They also boosted in 2 pounds of muscle (0.9 kilograms) though the cardio-only group, not surprisingly, lost muscle.
More appealing still, abdominal fat dropped by 26%, but by just 13.5. So, subjects lost approximately twice as much abdomen fat.
At this instant, I should show that this wasn’t the whole study. For one, though the subjects were told to record what they ate, there’s no way of knowing how perfect these records were. In other words, this was not a study where the diet was tightly controlled by the professionals.
Unhappily, self-reported food intake is a notoriously inaccurate way to measure calorie intake. A few studies illustrate that people misjudge their calorie intake by up to 50% [3]. Which means that someone who says they are eating 1000 calories daily may truly be eating 2000 calories.
It’s also meaning nothing that subjects taking part in this analysis exercised for up to six days weekly. Don’t agonize if you don’t have time for all this exercise. With the correct program, four days weekly is enough.
Hence, if you want to drop tummy fat, what would you do?
Firstly, you will need to train. And a weak 30 or 40 minutes of cardio in your alleged “fat-burning zone” two or three times a week isn’t going to be enough. Like you’ve learned, a full-body guidance program that includes both cardiovascular and resistance exercise will deliver better, faster results.
Disregard about doing hundreds of crunches, sit-ups, or any of the numerous “drawing in the abdomen button” exercises. They’re effectively a waste of time for most people when it originates to losing belly fat.
